What can I do to make my red hair dye LAST LONGER instead of fading right away?
Ok, so I've bought boxes of permanent hair dye from Target. And in like less than a week or two it fades back out and doesn't look red anymore, back to brown. And then I went to Sally and bought some hair dye from there, and the color turned out perfect!!! And theeeennnn... faded back out again. I've seen other girls be able to dye their hair red and it stays longer!!!!!! I don't really wanna "bleach" or un-color my hair first if i can avoid it. Can anyone help????
My natural hair color is mostly brown (light-medium brown) but it does have a small amount of natural red in it!!! I just want it to be more obviously red and not brown! IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER WHAT BRAND OF HAIR COLOR I BUY, I've tried all kinds of them and it still happens and fades back out. :( I have tried all those "color protecting" shampoos and they don't help either.

i would try getting it done by a professional. it might be more expensive, but it will be better for your hair if you don't have to dye it over and over again. plus they can dye it a few shades darker if they anticipate fading, and you can always go back and complain if it fades right away.
and make sure to use color protecting shampoo that costs more than a few bucks a bottle. cheap color protecting shampoo isn't going to do any good, get some from a salon.
and yes definitely wash your hair less often. the less the better. (it gets easier to do after your hair gets used to not being washed everyday.. it won't get greasy as fast)

Try shampooing your hair less, conditioner shouldn't effect it much on it's own though. Also, using cold water instead of warm may help preserve it a bit. From what I've seen, red is a difficult color to keep from fading. :/ Sun exposure might also fade it more. I might suggest also trying out different shampoos or maybe just the amount you're using.

i'm guessing yet i might think of that it does not remember what colour the dye isn't any remember if its blue eco-friendly or pink it washes out a touch each and every time you employ shampoo or bypass swimming in a pool with chlorine. i'm curious as to why you asked approximately blue eco-friendly and pink and not chestnut brown or another organic looking hair colour.

Wash ur hair less. Don't wash ur hair everyday. It's bad anyway. Try if u can handle, wash ur hair maybe 3 or so times a week. It may sound gross/bad, but its healthier for ur hair and dye won't wash off as quickly.
