It was an entry point for mostly European Immigrants. It is now a museum, as a part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument.
My parents were accepted to America through Ellis Island. They spoke proudly of the process and they took us boys to visit "Ellis" in the early 50's.
We lived in New Jersey.
