What could I use my student loan for?

I am starting college in a few weeks and I applied for financial aid and got that and a subsidized student loan. The financial aid paid for all of my courses and my books so I still have my loan left and a little of financial aid. With using the student loan, would I be able to purchase a computer with it for my online courses? When will I receive my student loan and how would it most likely be disbursed? I have one computer at home but was looking to purchase a second one, specifically just for schooling.

Yes, a computer is considered an educational expense, so it's perfectly legal to use your extra student loan money for this. Most schools disburse your extra financial aid within two weeks of when classes start (assuming your loan money comes in on the first day of classes), but how is up to the schools. Some schools will send you a paper check, others will do direct deposit or some type of debit card. If you check with your financial aid office, they can give you more exact information. :)
