Dog Bladder Infection...?
My dog has been up at 1 or 2 every night the past two weeks. Took her in and had her anals drained, stool sample negative for anything. That didn't help so we took in a urine sample, came back positive for MILD bladder infection.
She was on Clavamox and she was seemingly doing better. Started getting up again three nights ago. Finished the meds yesterday. Took in another sample today. Vet called and said to bring her in.
Got an appointment for 2:15. Just curious if anyone had a vet call them in for a "mild bladder infection". I'm a bit worried cuz "x-ray" was thrown around. Anyone ever had a dog x-rayed for bladder infection? Or could it be something else?
Not looking for diagnosis, obviously just looking to see if anyone has similar experience. Probably won't even get any answers till after we get back.
Thanks - my dad talked to the tech and i called them back to make the appointment, so i don't know why they called us in or why they mentioned x-rays. I guess it makes sense to check for stones though... We're off to the vet now so i'll post when i get back. Hopefully it's nothing that requires surgery (have the money for it, obviously, but still.)
My dog is going to be four years old in May, BTW.
Aaand $130 poorer.....
No elevated white blood cells in the urine, but there where some crystals and the pH was high. He couldn't feel any stones and none showed up definitively on x-ray, though. He had to really look and said that they MIGHT be there, hidden, but decided to try a new med first rather than make us pay bigger bucks for a different test just in case there where none.
So if things don't "improve" in the next three to four days (or if things get worse or we find blood in the urine) he said we should try some other test (either an ultrasound or some test where they pump air in the bladder and "take a look") because some stones may not show on x-ray or may be hidden.
Looks like it'll be a long three or four days!

There are lots of reasons why. First of all...I week of meds does not always clear things up. I am impressed that your vet is looking deeper into the situation rather than simply giving more antibiotics tho. The X ray is to check for kidney or bladder stones etc. This does happen and first observation is a bladder infection or high incident of white cells in a urine sample amongst other things. Of course age of dog needs to be taken into consideration. I am curious to know what the findings are and I hope it remains a mild infection and more antibiotics as that is the easy solution. Good luck to you.

in case you're no longer arranged to take this canine to the vet with such extreme indications, then you particularly are no longer arranged to very own a canine. You did no longer point out in case you even regarded for that's proprietor, even with the incontrovertible fact that it is not going that a purebred canine is a stray. renounce him to a no-kill look after the place he gets the therapy he needs, and his vendors could have of project of looking him
