New Monitor Wide Screen?

Just got a new PC monitor and its widescreen...what are the steps to make the screen fit the widescreen? ive looked in the control box but im not able to figure it out any help would be great...Thanks in advance...

it just seems all stretched out...

    right click on your desktop and hit properties or if you are using w7 right click and hit screen resolution good luck

    You should right click on an area of your desktop where there are no icons. Once you do this, if you are running Vista, you will see a number of choices. Click on the one that says display options. In this area I suggest you choose 1024 X 768, as this will give you the display you had in the past, which will not appear "all stretched out". Good luck with this. You can also get to display properties by going into Control Panel.
