End of the world 2012?
I know this may sound a little stupid and naive. But I want to know exactly what the mayans say about 2012 as well as NASA (possible comets, magnetic alterations, etc). I battled through a very difficult depression these past few years, and now that I've found the will to live and pleasure in living I don't want to die. And I'm obsessing with these theories, it's getting hard to even sleep. PLEASE, no jokes. I want scientific explanations (and if you could calm me down it would be perfect). Thank you for everything in advance!

The Mayans don't say anything about 2012.
Seriously. There are no actual prophecies or predictions from any actual Mayans about the year 2012, nor are there any about the end of the world in any other year. Anyone claiming otherwise is either a perpetrator or a victim of a hoax. Even if they did have such a prophecy, there would be no reason to believe it, since there is no rational reason to think the ancient Mayans would have the ability to predict disasters so far in advance.
Nor has NASA said anything about any calamities in 2012. There are no comets or asteroids predicted to come near us in that year. I don't even know what you mean by "magnetic alterations", but certainly no actual scientist has said anything like that either.
Bottom line: the world is not going to end in 2012. There is no real-world evidence to support that claim, and therefore no rational reason to believe it.

The scientific explanation is that it is all lies invented by people who are in the business of making money from the gullible and the neurotic.
If I asked you to get me a can of striped paint, you would realise that such a thing is impossible if you actually thought about it.
Now, if you actually think about the movements of the planets as they have been understood for 450 years and their gravitational influence on each other as measured over the past 300 years or so, you would realise that not only are line ups of more than two planets with the Sun are very rare to impossible, even when they do line up their effect on each other is minuscule. This is because they are so far apart. Gravity decreases with the square of the distance, when something doubles it's distance, it's gravity decreases by a factor of four. The gravity of all the planets combined would not take the skin off a rice pudding.
Almost the same thing goes for the supposed line up of the Earth, Sun and centre of the galaxy. They get to a point at which they sort of, almost, nearly line up twice every year. Yes, that is twice every year. The closest they got recently to a perfect line was in 1998, but it was still about 6 degrees off and that is a lot in astronomy. In reality, they were closer to a line up about 21 December 2010, that's just before Christmas just gone, then they will be in 2012.
There are no stray planets whizzing around out there. If planet X or Nibiru was on it's way, it would have been spotted by astronomers in the 1950s or even in the 1930s. Unless a planet has some kind of rocket propelling it, then it moves according to the ordinary laws of gravity. If it was to be here in 2012 it would be somewhere between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter and easily visible, since it would be one of the brightest things in the sky. None of the frauds and liars promoting this will say where it is since it could be seen with the naked eye or at least binoculars..Why not? Because it does not exist.

The Mayans didn't say ANYTHING about the world ending in 2012.
Dec 21 2012 is the simply the start of a new cycle on their Long Count calendar (you know, like when a new cycle started on our calendar at the end of 1999).
NASA doesn't say ANYTHING about the world ending in 2012.
There is not ONE shred of scientific evidence of any kind to support even one of the ridiculous claims.
Comets can happen any time but they never pose a threat to the Earth.
Magnetic alterations have indeed happened in the past, but they took thousands of years to happen and it would have been noticed by now if it was going to happen in less than 2 years.
Bottom line - there is NO scientific evidence.
Here is some bedtime reading that will help:

The Mayans say nothing about 2012. Their calendar doesn't even end then.
NASA doesn't say anything about 2012. They do not say any comet or magnetic alteration is coming in 2012.
The whole idea that 2012 is special comes from new age mystics like art historian José Argüelles.

DUDE the world won't end,in the Christian bible it doesn't say anything about the world ending in 2012,the Mayans were just crazy,no offence, yeah the world will change some how i heard it would be a year when the earth makes a full rotation around the whole solar system,SO DONT WORRY THE WORLD WON'T END WHY THE **** DOES IT HAVE TO BE IN 2012 THE WORLD COULD END ANY DAY BUT DON'T WORRY IT WONT END IN 2012 NOR ANY OTHER DAY, SOON HOPED I HELPED'' AND RELAX,'

There is no reason to believe any of this hype and "mumbo-jumbo".
There is NO evidence -- just lots of speculative stories.
For example, the Maya built a great calendar system that goes from the end of one baktun to the beginning of the next just as our calendar goes from the end of one century to the beginning of the next. The Maya did not try to predict that the world would end when one baktun ended and the next began -- it never happened when a baktun ended before.
For another example, the Earth, Sun and Galactic Center align in December 2012. But, they forget to tell you that that will also happen in December 2013, December 2011, and has happened in every December since we've had a December on our calendar.
There are similarly simple answers to all the rest of the "so called" evidence.

They Mayans aren't saying anything about 2012, and who cares if they did? What do they know? NASA said it's a load of crap, and has been saying that for years. There's no science behind it at all. Just like the last 30,000 time this question was asked, and I'm not kidding.

No jokes? I think not.
A dog wearing cowboy boots walks into the saloon in Tombstone and orders a beer, but the bartender points out a sign "No Dogs". The next day the same dog walks in and orders a beer again, but the bartender just points at the sign. The next day the same thing again. Finally, one of the regulars gets fed up and shoots the dog right through one of his cowboy boots.
The next day the dog walks into the bar again, this time he's wearing a gun belt. He stops in the middle of the bar and says "I'm looking for the man that shot my Paw."
2012 is a hoax. The Mayans never said anything but gibberish about it... NASA says NOTHING about it, sorry to hear about your depression, but stop worrying about nonsense.

The Mayans stopped making the calenders in 2010. The world is NOT going to end. No worries(: If you believe in God. In the bible it says that the end of the world will come when we aren't expecting it will be "like a thief in the night." Therefore, when it does end we wont even know. So, theres nothing to be afraid of. It's okay. Also, a few days ago it said on the News hahah. (: HOPE I HELPEDâ¥
