i have this friend who i have a crush on. when we are alone he acts very close and nice to me. he tells a lot of compliments but when we are together with his and my family, he doesn't even talk to me. he acts like he doesn't care. what is he trying to do?

If he is your friend just ask him...Friends are people we should be able to ask or say anything to
without them being mad or embarrassed if you need to know then ask him alone of course
and mention also how he treats you alone and how you feel in a crowd

Either he's A) bipolar, B) not ready to accept his feelings, C) his family doesn't want him to 'do' anything with anyone and doesn't want to get in trouble, D) something else, E) all of the above.

It's like he doesn't want anyone to know he likes you. If I were you, I'd kick him to the curb! Let him know you need to be treated nice no matter who's around. Don't let anyone treat you second class!

He's trying to impress his friends, or whatever. I can't stand when guys do that. If he's ashamed to talk to you in front of his friends, then it's not worth your effort. Just sayin'.
