What is the difference between DNS and TLD?
From what I seem to understand, DNS is the name of the website that redirects to the IP address of the server. If I were to make a website, do I need a name or can I still host through my IP address? Can I not use TLD and DNS and just use IP? Can I get DNS and not TLD?

DNS was designed to allow users to type in a "friendly" and easy to memorize name in to their web browser to reach a web site - getting users to remember 173.194.43.104 as opposed to www.google.com is not practical.
However, that being said - You can still run a website without a problem just using an IP address and no DNS server/name.
TLD = Top Level domain and is a component of DNS such as: .COM, .NET, .ORG ... etc
Each DNS name is made up of several components, TLD/Country Code, Domain name, subdomains, and then host names.
