Why does Excel round off numbers?

I balance my checkbook on excel 2010. It insists on rounding off amounts I enter. Like if I wrote a check for $74.05, it will enter $74. Even say $52.36, it may or may not do it. seems to be based on how fast you enter data from the previous amount you enter. If I was doing this for work, it would be a disaster.

You have to edit the cell properties to include the decimal amounts.

Right click the cell(s) and go to Format Cell, click numbers, then from the list go to currency. Tell it 2 decimal places

If i understand what you're attempting to do: There are 2 buttons interior the toolbar, one is for exhibiting one greater decimal form (advance Decimal) and one to coach one decimal form much less (shrink Decimal). In Excel 2003, it is placed interior the main substantial toolbar above the sheet, and in 2007, it is in "living house" tab of toolbar, the "form" area. It feels like this: .00 ->0

you can change this by increasing the number of decimal places it displays. it should be a little button with an arrow to the right and .00 and .0 all within the button. it's just a default setting sometimes.

    hope that helps :)
