My Roommate asked me if his gf could move in with us...discussing rental?
I said yes.
However, I don't know how to split up the rent.
We pay 950$ a month for a two bedroom, one bath, basement suite.
We each pay our half of the rent...
Would we have to re-write the lease?
Can our landlords raise the rent? (we've only been here for a half year)
How should I go about approaching this situation?
even if she's not getting her own room we should be splitting by three?
also, no worries, we're letting our landlord know.

No matter what the landlord does you need to start splitting the rent by 3, not 2

If the landlord says it's okay then her moving in is all good. When it comes to the rent I think with 3 people living there 3 people should split the rent and any other bills. The landlord does have the right to raise the rent, but it's all up to them, but I don't think it matters if the landlord raises the rent or not the split should still be equal.

the landlord would be entitled to raise the rent as this is one-third as much wear and tear on the property again. Depends if you are good tenants and he wants to keep you.
make sure she goes on the lease and you split all costs three ways. She will mean you use more power, water etc. She'll also make the place overcrowded and as you don't get any of the benefits :-) then you should at least get a reduced rental cost.

I would inform the LL of the move in. It might be an issue. Yes, he could raise the rent if he allows her in.
