Friendly email, then silence?

20 years ago I loved this guy and as he lived and worked overseas I couldn't be there with him. We wrote /visited for 5 or so years. It just became too hard and lonely for me as it seemed we would never be together, so I broke off contact.

I recently found some photos of his, work related, and managed to find a contact for him. I know that he is married with a child as am I. He straight away responded to my email and sounded pleased to hear from me and said he was looking forward to receiving my news.

I sent him off a chatty email, no mention of the past of course, and heard nothing more?

I am wondering if he didn't actually recognize my name and maybe thought I was some other woman? Maybe he still isn't sure who i am or maybe he doesn't have anything to say to me once he realised who i was?I wasn't expecting much in the way of a reply, maybe a bit of news about

himself as well as an answer to the question "do you want the photos back?" I think I should just throw out the photos.
