Is there any animal group who will pay for corrective surgery on a dog for a poor, old lady?
She lives on SSI in North Carolina. The dog is her life.

There are some that do help when they can. There is information here on locating those groups: http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tip... But, times are tough and have been for a few years, and resources are stretched to their limit. I'm not sure what sort of surgery the dog needs, but if it's not a life-saving one, it's unlikely you'll find much assistance.

The best you can do is contact the aspca and see if any local vets or rescues offers anything. I know in NJ there is a vets office called St. George Animal Hospital in Avenel that takes donations just for low income people who need vet help.
Of course it would depend on the type of issue too.

Not without you surrendering the animal to them. They have more expenses than they can afford as it is. Remember, these groups rely on volunteers and donations to exist. Good luck. You may want to check in with your local Humane Society, they get donations as well so they can offer cheap prices for healthcare.

I doubt it. But, if you can get this in the local newspaper? Or the local news station on TV? People will help.
Good luck & I believe you have a big heart.
Add: YOU are the *poor, old lady*. Oh. Well.........I dunno.
