Why won't young people tell their Parents ?

Question after question comes from teens about being depressed, suicidal, bullying, body issues and these are being asked here on Yahoo ! Answers. Why won't some of these teens speak with their Parents, an Aunt, or a relative concerning their important issues ? I do understand that some don't have the type of relationship with their elders where they can talk about this but some most likely do. I am a Mom of 5 and my kids could talk with me about a lot of things. Granted there were some things they just felt was too embarrassing But this many teens on this site can't ??? I am baffled by this. Maybe it is just too easy for them to come to this site ?

Update:

Great ! These are good-I am receiving different answers and I am beginning to see why teens don't tell.

There are many possibilities. First, their parents are too busy. They claim they work for money but what is money without happiness? Second, they probably tried but their parents totally ignored them and wouldn't want to bother in the future because he/she just ends up talking to himself. Also, the parent is not welcoming. Also, they could be embarrassed. In my case, I try every time with my father. He was working for more than half of my life. he came back when i was like 12. and its really hard for me to open up. i really do love him and im starting to miss him (he left to japan.. work). Lastly, you might've scared the. my mom usually says: "i'll beat the hell out of that guy who does this to you" and the like. So yeah, i dont end up telling my mom. Or maybe the parents dont get along with each other. Like, they usually fight and the kids get really affected. they may not show it but they are really much affected. (the eldest child at least)

P.S. My parents are usually off to work. dad's currently abroad and mom's here. she comes home late and is usually taking out the stress on every single thing that's wrong. it gets annoying at times, i just have to bear with it. she used to go home late and leave early in the morning. I'm 16 by the way XD

Source(s): This is in a daughter's point of view, my point of view. hope this helps! :D

You recognise, I not ever ran in to that with my children after they had been younger. (Youngest is 15). They did move to preschool too. So, I'm no longer certain what I could inform them. Probably some thing in the best way of "god is an suggestion that a few persons feel, whilst you're older you are going to be in a position to make up your possess brain", and depart it at that.

Depressed and suicidal - They're scared their parents will put them in a mental ward. It's true. Or they don't want their parents to look at them like they're a bomb ready to go off.

Bullying - Either they want to feel independent, they don't want to be a snitch, or when they tell their parents, it turns into a lecture about how the kid isn't supposed to pick fights.

Body issues - If you are talking about disorders and things like that, it's because the kid doesn't want to go to a psychiatrist or go on meds. Other things should go to the parent for the kid's well being.

My parents overreact sometimes when I tell them about someone who has been bothering me. Also, I feel like I am a little kid who can't handle my own problems when I tell them. I mean seriously, if I went to my parents and told them that someone was bothering me (I am in the 10th grade), it would seem like I am a big baby or something.
