Did the woman leave or die in George Jones's "The Grand Tour?"?

She left,- taking nothing but our baby and my heart) I had to answer this question since George Jones is my all time favorite singer! Im totally obsessed with him. The Grand Tour is one of the best songs of all time! When he sings this,you can feel every word of it.- theres her rings,all her things,and her clothes are in the closet,like she left them when she tore my world apart,as you leave you'll see the nursery,oh she left me without mercy taking nothing but our baby and my heart. .These are the kinds of questions I like to answer!

I believe the woman and baby had died simultaneously. It's quite possible that she might be pregnant at the time, considering they have a nursery. The song never implies that but that's the only logical explanation I can come up with, considering she took absolutely nothing but "our baby and my heart". She left him without mercy. Only a deceased person would ABSOLUTELY be without mercy. The possibility of hers and the child's death makes for a better story and song.

This question puzzles me big time too, to say she left and took nothing but the kid is kinda hard to believe, what woman leaves and takes nothing? Most take everything, some even the ice cube trays. and if she died why wasn't her ring buried with her as much as he loved her it would be? Some think she died in childbirth, others have a lot of different opinions, i think George did this on purpose to get the song talked about
