It is "discharged" from her vagina with the rest of her vaginal secretions.

It comes out similar to the way it did before. To help you understand more if both the uterus and cervix are taken then the very top of the vagina is stitched completely shut. Imagine an empty toilet tissue tube open on one and and the other completely closed off and stitched shut. More like a dead end if you ask me.
My husband said he did not notice anything different. The reason the top of the vagina is stitched shut is because if it wasn't then the other organs that fell into place such as the intestine would basically drop down and believe me when I say this....there have been some women who had sex to soon before their stitches were dissolved and one went into the E.R. with her intestines hanging out. This should not have happened and it wouldn't have happened if she just waited till her doctor gave her the o.k. The tissue needs to fully heal closed before she can resume intercourse.
Some women opt to keep their cervix which is the bottom of the uterus but they don't have the rest of the uterus above it as it was removed. I believe the doctor stitches up the top of the cervix or makes some type of closure otherwise if she also kept one or both tubes and ovaries, then there would be a risk of ectopic pregnancy. No one wants that to happen. Anyway hope I could be of help.
Additional info on terms.
When the uterus and cervix are both taken it's termed "total hysterectomy"
If the cervix is left it's termed "supracervical, subtotal, or partial hysterectomy"
When ovaries and tubes are taken it's termed bilateral (both) salpingo (tubes) oopherectomy (ovaries)
In older days when a hysterectomy was done the ovaries were taken but doctors realized that ovaries play an important part as they secrete hormones. If a woman just has an ovary and tube removed like in ectopic pregnancy it's an oopherectomy not a hysterectomy. Hyster refers to the removal of the uterus.
