Who likes North and South TV miniseries?
Who here likes the old TV miniseries North and South with Patrick Swayze and James Read? I loved books 1 and 2. The only thing i would have liked to see in book 2 was at the end when everyone came home, the last time Billy and Charles had seen each other they were both pointing a gun at the other. So i would've like to see there reaction to seeing each other for the first time since then. Also i would've like to see Billy and Brett adopt Tom. :D Also I didn't like how they Hollywoodized the romance. I.E. Back then a lady would never be alone with another man besides her husband. Book 3, i thought, was terrible. There was no need to bring Bent back to life. The camera quality was terrible. Also there was no dialogue in it. I don't know if any of you noticed but the music was different as well. :( In fact everything about book 3 was terrible. If they really wanted to make book 3 then what they should have done (in my opinion) is: Bent shouldn't have died in the explosion instead he should have been seen escaping. Orry should not have died. The producers should have focused on the reconstruction period after the war. They should have shown George and Orry rebuilding Mont Royal and at the same time shown them mending and making stronger their friendship which was almost torn apart in the war. Orry and George should have killed Bent together. There should have been more Billy and Charles (and personally i did not like the acting of the guy who played Charles in book 3....BLAH). And they shouldn't have waited so long to make it. (the 2nd book was made in '86 i believe while the third was made in 94). Unfortunately they didn't seek out my advice when making Book 3.... :P lol I haven't read the books yet but i'm hoping Heaven and Hell will be better than book 3 of the TV series. So what are everyone else's thoughts? :)
