Depends on the service. Normal DSL is about 3mbs. My California connection is about 6mbs because I have DSL. If I were to use Cable Modem I could increase that to 15mbs, but I don't want to pay the extra 35 dollars to get cable modem. I believe SureWest and Verizon are supposed to be faster in CA, but they don't serve my area, so I have to stick to 6mbs.

In PR the local phone company can give you up to 5mbs through the DSL lines. Cable Modem through Choice in PR gives you a choice of 6.0 Mb, 10 Mb, 12 Mb, 15 Mb y 20 Mb, even more than the Comcast give in the City I live. But I don't live in PR anymore for a long time and I don't know if there are other cable companies in the island that will give you service.

Telefonica, because it is limited to DSL will give you up to 5mbs.

There are other services, but I havent been in the island for 10 years.
