If you're solving for r, you want to make sure you don't have it in the denominator. In fact, I don't like working with fractions, so I would multiply every term by the least common denominator (16r). Then, you would get all terms on one side of the equation so that you set it equal to zero. You would have 16r^(2) + 9r - 4 = 0. Then, you can either factor or you can use the quadratic formula, and you would find that
r = [-9 +- (337)^(1/2)]/[32]
