I had a dream where I thought I was awake, but I wasn't..help please?

I fell asleep, but then I heard my phone go off so I woke up. I got up, and checked my message, and it was from Curtis who is this guy that i'm in love with, but he said he needed time to think. He's been "thinking" for six months. The message said I love you, and I want to be with you so I like jumped around, and was all happy. I tried to answer the message, but I couldn't so I look over on the couch, and my body is like laying there, but i'm awake standing up. I get all freaked out because I realize i'm not awake, so I really do wake up, but I cant open my eyes or move for like four seconds..I'm able to move, and I checked my messages...I never got a message. This really scared me because I honestly though I was awake, but I wasn't..Does anyone know what happened?

Update:

When I woke up, but couldn't move someone was telling me to blink. I started blinking, and thats when I was able to move.

You had a dream that you got a text and then as were waking up you experienced sleep paralysis.

That's kind of a sad story, I think Curtis has had ample time time to think, if I were you I would be looking for another boy that would return my affections - there's plenty of fish in the sea you know.

Cool. Perhaps an INCEPTION is being performed on you. Or an extraction. Are you a billionaire? Sorry, that movie is just the best.

Personally I wouldn't get too worked up about it. Dreaming that you wake up and then finding that you aren't actually awake yet seems quite common. I'm not a doctor or a sleep expert but it's happened to me several times and to my wife and friends. It is weird to see yourself outside of yourself though. Perhaps you woke up dead and then realized it and came back to life? :-)

As for the 4 second paralysis, that has happened to me before too, though not this duration. Only happened during extremely frightful dreams.
