    Ok so first it's a system of equations

    so let x represent the number of hours on road 1 and y represent the num of hours on road 2

    so

    x + y = 5 and

    55x + 65y = 305

    then x = 5 - y by rearranging the first equation

    plug that x into the second equation

    55( 5 - y) +65y = 305

    275 - 55y + 65y = 305

    10y = 30

    y = 3

    now that you have y you can plug that into the first equation

    x + 3 = 5

    x = 2

    therefore she spent 2 hours on road one and 3 hours on road 2.
