Dangerous Days: The Autobiography of a Photojournalist, and its sequel, Blades: The Autobiography of a Rescue-Helicopter Pilot, both by J. William Turner. Very realistic fiction about teens overcoming several tense, dramatic, life and death situations set in Australia, England and California. The plot of each novel is written as a collection of four related shorter books (about 100 pages per book) inside a single cover dealing with teenage, adult and social themes. I don't know how old you are so these might suck, lol. My favorites are:
the Confessions of Georgia Nicholson
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
The Vampire Diaries (they don't sparkle, haha)
All of those ^^ are in a series.

i think you can read Great Books for High School Kids: A Teacher's Guide to Books That Can Change Teens' Lives
Teachers Rick Ayers and Amy Crawford always wanted to find a guide to the vast world of great books for teenagers one that didn"t talk down or moralize. When they couldn"t find one, they set out to create it.

Depends what your type is.
-If your into non sparkly vampires, you should try the Cirque Du Freak series by Darren Shan
-If your into guts and gore and demons (and werewolves that aren't shirtless), try The Demonata series also by Darren Shan.
-Harry Potter is good,too.
-This isn't fiction; but it's really good. It's the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz it's about a teenage spy (not as gay as it sounds, actually)
