if you post your scores your index would probably be around 15. Handicap is figured by the slope (difficulty rating of the course) and your index..............most slopes fall between 100 and 150...100 being the easy course

mbl is right. There's an extremely tedious process to figuring out your handicap, considering it's just golf. But it's a good thing to figure out if you golf enough, play competitively or simply want to improve your overall game. (a good goal [of many] to set!)

The problem is, no one on here can answer it directly without knowing all the necessary information. We'd need to know the last 10 scores of your rounds (and all must have been 18 holes). We'd need to know the course rating and slope of each of those courses. Then the handicap differentials are calculated, from which we then would find out your true handicap.

And, so everyone knows, a handicap isn't an "average" of how you shoot. It represents that player's potential. The "average best" method as it's referred to.

Wow, some really bad answers here. It has nothing to do with par first of all. We don't have enough information to answer this properly. We don't know the rating of the course. And we need each score because handicap only takes into account the best half of your scores. But you're in the neighborhood of 11-14.

Depending on what the par is on the course you play the handicap is 80% of what you are over par. So most courses are par 72 if you shoot 86 for an average your handicap is about an 11.

    What Is My Handicap

the first 3 answers on this page made me so angry. I didnt even laugh at there stupidity. It just made me angry. haha so your GOLF handicap would probably be between 12-16 depending on the slope and course ratings on the courses you play on

mbl and Jence are right. It has nothing to do with par. The link below is the best I've found to explain it as simply as possible.
