Can an American travel to Cuba?

I have heard of Americans traveling to Canada and taking a flight from there to Cuba. Is this possible?

Yeah you can take a flight up to Canada and then take another flight to Cuba from there. Probably an expensive trip, but well worth it! You can get the all inclusive packages here in Canada (I'm Canadian).

Canada is a big place as you may know, so there are many places to fly to, but you should probably just pick Toronto, most likely the closest area to Cuba anyway.

No, I believe it's illegal for an American citizen to travel to Cuba. You need special permission to head there, like if your from Cuba or part of the military or something. But you're right, many people head to Canada first and then fly to Cuba, but even that isn't exactly legal. However, easily done.

  • From what I know, we aren't welcome in Cuba unless you're on the military base or something like that. But I've heard of American people going to Cuba (not many), but I'm not sure if they're missionaries or doing other types of work like that. I wish I knew more :/
