Shall we try to save the bees ?

Bees are dying off worldwide and our entire food production is in danger. Scientists blame certain toxic pesticides (neonicotinoids) and four European governments have already banned them. If we get the US and the EU to join the ban, other governments across the world could follow, and we could save bees from dying out. Let's all sign the petition. If you are signing, please reply here to let me know. Then we can see how many of us do ;) Thank you.

I've already signed the petition and posted the link on my fb wall - so now you know my answer is yes.

But intensively farmed crops will attract pests the way a rubbish dump attracts rats and seagulls.

So while banning this pesticide may help the bees we really need to address the totality of our farming methods if we are to produce enough food to prevent future worldwide famine (which obviously could also be caused by the demise of the bees).

I personally would like to see more use of natural predators to keep the pest numbers down.

It's common knowledge that honey bee populations drop from time to time. Nobody has every really known why. As far as all that other stuff, well, there is nothing you can do to "save" them. There is also nothing you can do for world peace or world hunger and it's all going to continue to get worse. With every generation that comes, people are more and more self-centered and live for shorter and shorter periods of time.

This world is passing away, as foretold in the bible. If you don't believe that, look around. Acts of good will are very necessary in this world but won't stop what's happening in the end. All you can do is continue to learn what the bible says about what IS going to survive and how you can survive too.

In the mean time, organic farming is best for everything and and everyone. It will shorten the list of things that can hurt you and animals but you can't control other people's actions, only your own. And keeping yourself pesticide free will buy you more time to study the bible and grow closer to God. It won't keep you from dying but what you learn will put into perspective why you should not fear dying or waste time stressing out about the destructive influences around you.

As far as activism, Your setting a good example by running your own life healthy and only buying organic, free-range, raw, etc. makes more of a difference in today's agriculture than you think.

Source(s): been there, done that. Signing petitions is a noble effort but won't change anything. Also, this is not a proper question and is in risk of being deleted.

Yes we should try to save the bees, but banning one pesticide will have little effect when a parasite, Varroa mite is responsible for the deaths of many honeybees worldwide and like for so many other species loss of habitat takes it's toll.

this could be a problematical question. First i might create jobs by potential of rebuilding the roadways of this united states. and not use a typical business enterprise the two. 2nd, i might provide up all of the bail-outs. they don't look to be working for the american human beings. i might as a replace use that funds to actual do what's critical to help the human beings here! not extra bonuses.era! 0.33, i might start up the approach to surrender all unlawful immigrants from coming to this united states. they seem to be a drain on the economic equipment. And might advance employment for the criminal citizens here. Then i might do away with the lobbyist, they merely screw us plenty. there is extra i might do for this united states, yet , as in all reality. those issues might hit a brick wall via fact of the two democrats and republicans might see some thing that ought to piss them off in this questioning.

Wikipedia article (see below) suggests cause not established as pesticides.

CCD has also not been shown to be caused by the following:

    Cell phones

    High voltage power lines

    Earthquakes

    Atomic weapons

    HDTV screens

    Transgenics

    Blue morning glory psychoactives

    Diesel fumes

    Monoculture crops

    Hyperbolic paraboloids

    GM crops

    Drosophila melanogaster

But to be safe we should probably ban those things as well.
