How do I find the value of baseball cards?

My husband has boxes and boxes of unopened baseball cards. He's sure they are worth millions. I am sure they are taking up lots of room in my house! How would I find the value of these cards? I assume I would need to open them and go through them one by one. Any suggestions?

Boxes that are sealed with unopened packs inside are NOT to be opened until you research the value of other unopened boxes of that exact product. If it's a common box of what has come to be known as 'junk wax' from the massively overproduced years of the late 1980s to mid 1990s, a box that sells for $5 to $10 or so, you should still not open them unless you find that there are valuable single cards inside, and then decide if you want to play the lottery. Find one of those cards and you'll make some money. Don't find one, and you'll have a pile of opened cards that are close to worthless. Not totally worthless, but the time involved in marketing them, (if you value your time) can make it not worth spending hours to get $3 back (for a sealed box you could have got $5 for).

If it's a valuable box, the value will be lost by opening it. Any unopened material from the 1970s in any sport has excellent value that continues to go up over time. There is some good product in all sports until you get to about 1988, and after that, you really need to know what you have. There's really good ones but most of it's junk. And as I said, most of the time, it's best to not open the junk, either.

instead of opening them all up and going through them (which he would probably be mad about) you should just check how much the boxes are going for on ebay. check "completed auctions" as well as store listings with "buy it now" prices. ebay has categories for "box" in the baseball cards column to make your search easier. just start with the brand name as your search and keep refining it from there. there are a few brands that they might be...topps, donruss, fleer, score, upper deck, leaf, etc. make sure the picture matches what you have so you know what year they are from. if any of the boxes are selling or were sold for $50 or more, then its a semi-decent product. hopefully, that makes it easier so you dont have to go tearing through his collection. most collector's love the thrill of opening their own product anyway. also, keep in mind that a lot of collector's are sentimental. even though it may not actually be worth a million dollars, to him it just might be.

Many lose fee whilst gamers lose acceptance and numerous different extra stagnate for years. great occasion is the Dwight Gooden F replace rookie. It as quickly as introduced in upwards of $250 on it is very own interior the northeast area. Now it is had on Ebay for decrease than$40 and that's in easy terms on it is shortage whilst in comparison with different themes of the era. the comparable has happened to novices of Strawberry, Canseco, Mo Vaughn and the record retains going. A card will purely strengthen or carry fee in keeping with 2 issues- call for and grant. If call for is there the cardboard will upward push, no rely if it is scarce in spite of the participant it is going to upward push. verify into the values of the fifty 5 Bowman umpires (television set sequence). The umpires outpace gamers in many circumstances as a results of fact infants trashed the ump enjoying cards generally and made them scarce- it is not as a results of fact Jim Hohochik became rather that huge-unfold.

My husband has lots of basketball cards so i know how you feel. There are card magazines you can purchase at almost any store( grocery or department) also book stores have them and some sport hobby stores. They are called beckett magazine i believe. And yes you have to go through each and everyone. You may also be able to google beckett and find out online. Hope this helps and you have millions.

They are worth whatever someone will pay you for them when you try to sell them.
