If I'm going to get Dead Space 2, should I also get the first Dead Space and play that first?

actually according to OPM Dead Space 2 is better if you haven't played Dead Space because a lot of it's changed

i've played neither, but the impression i got was that Dead Space 2 will sort of explain anything you need to know, so i'd just get that and not the first :)

I think playing dead space 1 and then playing the second soon after might be a bit much repetition. Normally I would be a 'you must play the first game to understand the story' person, but in all honesty the story was not complex. Read wikipedia for the back story (and download the animated 'downfall' series - if not then you can pick it up for 4 quid on dvd) and buy the second game as I am certain the second game will be an improvement. I also believe it has multi-player.

Dead Space 2 pretty much picks up right where the first one left off so I'd say you should play the first one before the second one also there is no reason not play Dead Space considering it was one of the best games released in 08 and by now is crazy cheap.

Darkspace is basically about an engineer guy who tries to escape an infested spacecraft of alien/mutated human things and there are some characters along the way to guide you through quests and missions...pretty typical storyline, no you dont need deadspace one to play part two, but i do recommend playing it because its hella worth it- it's scary as heck and has some pretty cool monsters and bosses.

maybe you should use deadspace one as a tester to see if you like it..i mean i know the style doesnt suit everyone.
