Epsom salt vs rock salt and batteries?
I have a 2 part question, first, what is the difference between epsom salt and rock salt, And why would golf course maint guys mix epsom salt and water to put into batteries and what would happen if they used rock salt instead?
This is a honest question, not being stupid. I have been told golf course maintenance guys do this all the time with epsom salts and water, and all i have is rock salt. I plan on replacing my golf cart batteries anyway but what if any benefits would come from the salt thing.
Thank you

Rock salt is sodium chloride and Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate. The golf course maintenance men are reconditioning the batteries and one chemical is not a substitute for the other here. You need Epsom salts to accomplish this trick. I've never heard of this in my forty years of working on cars. It sounds rather dubious to me. It won't bring a bad battery (one with a bad cell etc.) back to life, and it could possibly destroy one with some life left in it. Method is below in source.
