You can use the formula v^2 - u^2 = 2*a*s, for constant acceleration a over distance s
a = (v^2 - u^2) / 2s = (7^2 - 2^2) / (2*12) m/s^2 = (49 - 4) / 24 m/s^2 = 45/24 m/s^2
a = 1.875 m/s^2
