Is it safe to do this?
In Windows XP I used to clear out, periodically, the old temporary files by using the "search" function. However I have been asked to clear out similar files in Vista and find they are stored in the Microsoft/ Windows folder. Will I be disabling anything vital if I simply clear the "temp" folder? Perhaps some kind soul would walk me thro' the procedure for clearing temp files from Vista in order to speed up the computer. Thanks

run %temp% and delete what you find,if you do not know how to put up a run box, go to accessories in start menu and click on run,and no, it will not disable anything, after al they are temporary and will come back as you use the pc.

You can click Start -> Computer -> Users -> Find your Username -> AppData (Make sure the folder is not hidden, to unhide it press Alt on your Keyboard then Click Tools -> Folder Options -> View Tab and click where it says "Show Hidden Files and Folders" -> Apply and then OK your way out.) -> Local -> Temp. Highlight and Shift + Del everything inside that folder. You might not be able to delete everything in that folder, this is OK.
Hope this helps

If you go onto Start ---> Accessories ---> System Tools ---> Disk Cleanup
and run that
there should be an option to delete your temporary files

better answer:
go to downoad.com
download CCleaner.
the run the wipe empty space option. That will safely fix it.

Just run CCleaner, all functions.
All this open this, go there do this, forget it. CCleaner does it for you.
