2 or 4 wheel drive? They are different
Is the engine out of the vehicle? With 2 wheel drive, it is recommended. On 4 wheel drive it can be done in the vehicle with the engine raised and the front axle disconnected and pulled forward.
On second thought, you probably should get a Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. It will have step-by-step instructions with illustrations to guide you.
Good luck.
