Community service hours and court question?

I got a speeding ticket in November, court ordered community service in December to be completed mid February. Besides it maybe having an affect on my hopes of becoming an officer I have a quick question.

I have all of my hours lined up to be completed before my court date, actually 2 weeks earlier than the court date. Yesterday I was diagnosed with Mono. I still have 3 days to finish for my community service and I'm going to have to miss two of them and I will not the opportunity to finish them before court. I work during the week as well and the place where I go isn't open on weekends. I just would like to know if I show up at court with two days left to complete what will happen? Should I provide documentation from my doctor proving my diagnosis?

Go to the court clerk and file for a continuance. These usually go right on to the docket and would be taken care of the next day. The judge may think you're stalling though, and not grant the continuance.

    Good luck.

Yeah, you're possibly going to get a warrant. you have 6 months to do 40 hours, however the court docket stated you had to do the 1st a million/2 in 3 months. so which you're disobeying a court docket order. You do time on THEIR words, no longer your's.
