Teachers, how much say and control do you have in how the money gets spent in your classroom?

Are you given a budget to work with and then tasked with the responsibility to choose the materials you will use to teach your students?

Are you given leeway to try and save money where possible, or encouraged to do so?

Is any thought given at your level on how to try and save some of the money available for future needs?

Update:

@MamaB Do you feel that money is being spent for materials in your classroom that could better be spent in other ways, or do you get your money's worth out of everything you've got available to you?

95% of any money spent in my classroom comes out of my pocket, so i guess I do have a say!

Generally curriculum budgets are spent by those with budget responsibility, although they do ask for input.

None of the teachers in my elementary school has a budget. The principal has a building budget. The teachers are told what to teach, how to teach, and are given the materials we must use. There are not enough materials as it is, so most spend their own money for other things because the district does not supply them. If it is possible to save money it is at the district level, not in the classrooms.

I'm in Oklahoma so we don't have to worry about that - no money gets spent in the classroom. If there is any money it's spent on football.
