Why do the Liberals continue to support Obama when he governs so much like Bush?

1. Gitmo - closing gitmo was unsuccessful - blame congress not Obama

2. Aghanistan - hardly the same. Refocussing our attention on the conflict that the Bush government ignored as soon as a sexier one came along is a reversal of policy, not the same

3. Patriot Act - actually it is not the same. The new patriot act is a heavily watered down version of the original

4. Again this is an area with a massive difference - Obama is not routinely refusing to fund the very programs he pretends to champion (eg Bush's underfunding of NCLB)

5. How can you compare ignoring the suffering of a whole city with an oil spill that put nobody's lives in danger?

6. This is another one where congress would not work with Obama - his policy was not the same as Bush's - he wanted to return the top rates paid by the super rich to what they were back whent the economy was strong and the budget in balance. Whatsmore you would appear to be ignoring anything except income taxes - the estate tax is back.

So why not actually look at what is happening before spouting this cynical nonsense?

Gitmo - He tried. No one was having it. I can get over it.

Afghanistan - He campaigned on pulling out of Iraq and sending more troops to Afghanistan which he called "the real war on terror." Can't criticize him on this - he said he'd do it all along

Patriot act - Disappointing

Domestic entitlement spending - Don't think anyone expected any different

Reaction to disasters - The oil spill? Really? What was he supposed to do? I don't think anyone really faults him for that. He held BP accountable, made them clean up and pay up

Tax cuts - He didn't want to but the GOP held the extension of unemployment benefits hostage to getting their tax cuts for the ultra wealthy

EDIT: I am unaware of any lies regarding the oil spill. You'll have to educate me with specifics.

The oil spill? Are you kidding me? Do you know how many people needed help after Katrina? How many people need help for the oil spill?

Why don't you blame the republicans for enacting more offshore drilling? How is the oil spill Obamas fault when republicans advocate for offshore drilling and less regulation of the oil industry?
