I already know how to play piano, will that make it any easier for me to learn guitar?

it will help a lot if you know the notes, scales, intervals, chord construction ,a little bit of theory, that way you can translate the notes to guitar and you'll see how similar they are. any music experience will help w/ learning another instrument, if you would like i can help you out, try my site and ebook at

Heh.. I played piano for a few years when I was younger and then picked guitar up in year 10. To be honest, I'm not sure that the experience on piano really made it any easier. I mean, I picked guitar up pretty quickly and I'm not a pro or anything.. but maybe having that certain level of musical knowledge is a bonus.

Yeah you should pick it up fine. You seem very musically minded, which would make it easier compared to a person who doesn't know much about music at all.

You should go for it, I played piano for years and then I started to learn the guitar about 2 years ago. Like you said, you're good at keeping rhythm and good with music altogether you shouldn't have a problemo.

Guitar is not a hard instrument to learn... most people that just start playing for first time experinece hardening of the tips fingers on the left hand (if you are right-handed) which can sometimes painful depending on how much you play.

But once you get through that stage - you will be fine...

My boyfriend is trying to learn as well. I was always told that learn the cords/scales then play songs that you know. That way it’s easier to notice your mistakes.
