How Do You Fix Internet Problems With an HP w1907?

About a year ago my computer lost internet due to being plugged in during a thunder and lightning storm. How do you set up a wifi device to it?

Commonly if you lost internet from a storm you may have a shorted contact in the motherboard, this in turn would cause your modem connection or you IE 1394 or Ethernet port to go down.

Sadly unless you isolate where the actual cause of the loss of signal is, the chances of just plugging in a new Ethernet card and making the system work correctly is slim.

You can in some cases depending on the build of the system replace the ethernet card easily, in some cases this is not so, In models older than 7 years you may find a ethernet card and it can be pulled and replaced.

In newer models you can install a new card, but, remember if there was a short in the system, you can damage or burn out the new install also just by placing it in the system.

I build my own PCs and I get parts fairly cheaply, I would not ever waste guessing whether the board had failed or spend money having it checked when a new board can be had for less than a service call.

Wifi networking, in the same sense is fairly easy to install, in some cases it requires only a USB adapter plugged in, a wireless modem connected to the household internet connection and the setup made so you can enter the WEP Key and passwords for network security.

    Always equip network passwords.

You can also internally install a wireless card into one free PCI slot and this will allow wireless access, it uses an antenna and you get reasonable service as well.
