Air force questions about jobs?

I'm young and want to be in the air force as an officer. I plan on going to college for 4 years for mechanical engineering. And I would want to work on planes. In the force. What job is that, and how do I get the right education for the job? What should I do after I retire the air force, that involves mech. Engineering? I need a profession.

The air force has a lot of different jobs in which you work on planes. You'd have to decide what kinds of planes you want to be working on.

If you want to do that, you don't need to go to school for it. The Air Force will train you.

BUT i do recommend going to school before enlisting. This way you'll automatically be an officer with higher pay, different training, etc.

Go talk to a recruiter, they'll give you all the info you need.

As an Officer you will NOT "work" on planes. If you want to work on them enlist as a crew chief.

you wont be turing wrenches on planes as an af officer. most don't even know what a speed handle is or how to use one. that and they think every enlisted member around a jet working on it is a crew chief. they're like children that just simply don't know any better.
