Chev Silverado "Engine Power is Reduced Message"?
on the DIC. The truck loses power. The manual says that the engine is in a protection mode due to overheating yet the truck is cold. I think it is a module gone somewhere......any suggestions?

That's a warning message that tells you the engine is operating in "limp" mode, for whatever reason. Either pull codes or take it in for service, it may not necessarily be a faulty sensor or module. A professional will check all the cheap and simple things before looking at expensive and complicated stuff.

Dear Caper,
I agree with Joe; you will want to take the vehicle into the dealership for the proper diagnosis on why your vehicle is in "limp mode".
I would be happy to assist you in setting up an appointment at a dealership in your area, if you would like. Please, feel free to private message me with further information about your vehicle and your area to better assist you with making an appointment if you so choose.
Sincerely,
Michelle P., GM Customer Service
