27.) In a test of the effects of sleep deprivation on problem-solving skills, research participants are allowed to sleep either 4 or 8 hours on each of three consecutive nights. This reseach is an example of:

    e. a correlational study

because you are comparing two different variables

28.) a research method in which an investigator manipulates factors that potetnially produce a particular behavior is called a(n):

    b. experiment

    Self explanitory

32.) In order to provide a baseline against whcih they can evaluate the effects of a specific treatment, experiementers make use of a(n):

    d. control condition

dependent variable is what you are measuring. Independent variable is what you are manipulating. Random sampling is randomly picking participants to get more accurate results. Experimental condition is the condition with the actual treatment. So the answer is control condition. This allows the researchers to know exactly what is expected of the "norm."

36.) When Mr. Adams calculated his students' algebra test scores, he noticed that two students had extremely low scores. Which measure of central tendency is affected most by the scores of these two students?

    a. mean

    b. standard deviation

    c. mode

    d. median

    e. range

The mean is the average. The mode is the most frequently occuring score. The median is the one in the middle. The range is the highest score and the lowest score. So the answer is Standard deviation. That shows how far the on average the scores DEVIATE from the mean. If you have two extremely low scores, that will widen that deviation.

38.) Which of the following is a measure of the degree of variation among a set of events?

    b. scatterplot

That is just putting dots on a scale to see where eah one falls. They are used to visually see the variation.

    40. Psychological differences between the genders are:

    b. simply reflections of biological differences between the sexes

    again, self explanitory

    hope that helps

First ones actual rigidity...the seat belt component is likely because at the same time as someone is nerve-racking, they might experience claustrophobic if constrained. Being because the first one is expounded to rigidity, i'd say that the 2d would properly be a.
