How long will rubber bands hurt on your braces?
I got braces a few months ago and today my orthodontist told me to wear rubber bands. I have to wear them 24/7 except when I have to brush my teeth. They really hurt when I wear them and they hurt even worse when I eat. Do you know if the irritation and pain will stop?

the bands are infact there to make your back teeth close together better.. the worse your overbite is the more itl hurt. the bands are pulling certain teeth in a particular angle to help the back most teeth join together so when u bite down your back teeth all close in together.. i wasnt aloud to wear my bands when i ate coz sometimes they would fling off n id swallow them. the pain should stop in a week but each time u go back to get your braces tightened the bands will hurt again.

It will stop hurting. The teeth is probably not used to the bands. It will take a while. For me, in a couple of days...don't worry, it won't pull any of your teeth out. If it gets infected, go to the orthodontist... But otherwise, aren't you happy that your teeth is going to be straight soon??? :D

about a week. i have my braces for two years n everytime i wear the rubber bads they hurt for about a week. take them off for a while but then dont wait to long otherwise they will hurt for a lot longer
