Depends on what you plan to do with the language. If you enter legal training or medical training then Latin would be useful. Spanish next to English is the most widely spoken language throughout the world so I think that would be more useful than French.

Well, latin is the root of the latin languages such as Italian, Spanish, French, Catalan, Romanian (i think), portuguese, and i think there's more. so i think if you would take latin first for a time. You'd pick up on french faster. I don't recommend taking two romance languages at the same time though, then it would be a bit of a challenge to learn them being that they are very close. Latin as others have said is a dead language, but, what is really important is to take advantage and learn as much as you can while you are in high school. the difference between college and high school is that high school is FREE. so i'd say learn as much as you can.

French is the most practical and obvious answer but it also depends on your interests, what you want to do and where you live.

French is official language of most international organizations (United Nations etc.) and used allot in business. It is very useful to know if in Europe and central western Africa as It is a common first and second language. In the USA it has much less applications as it is only mainly spoken in western Canada. French is also a pleasant language to listen to and very easy on the ears.

Latin is dead language so its applications are limited. It is however the root language to French, Spanish and Italian. It is also in my opinion much easier to learn then French. It you plan to learn many languages, learning Latin first would make it easier to learn some languages later. It is useful if your interested in history and located in Europe. Latin also just sounds cool when you listen to it.

If you live in the USA or plan to I would suggest Spanish as it will probably be the dominant language in that country within the next 20 years.

Aww i remember when i was a freshman 5 years ago. I asked myself the same thing. I went with French. I loved that class and it helps so much if you would ever want to travel to France.I liked that class. And you may like it to . I would at least give it a try and if you do not like it you can change it.

SPANISH....so many jobs advertise for bi-lingual employees. Unless you are planning on taking it all the way through 12th then it doesn't really matter though.
