Which Playstation 3 currently on the market is most compatible with PS2 and PS1 games?

My PS2 is about to die I fear, it keeps making this whirring noise, so I'm researching PS3's before that happens. I have a great deal of PS2 AND PS1 games however, so I really need a console that is fully-compatible with these old games.

They don't sell PS3's with PS2 compatibility now, but all PS3's are PS1 capable (although you really need the original disc and the right region. Some titles are sold at PS Store online). You can also look up ebay for some PS3's that can play PS2 games, though I do not prefer this because of warranty issues and such, I can't really guarantee. But buying a new PS2 to play those PS2 games are worth it, but again most developers make PS3 games now, so might as well switch to PS3.

There are no current PS3's being sold that can play PS2 games. The 80g bundle model was the last one to be sold that was compatible with PS2 games, but it was discontinued in August of 2008.

All ps3 will play most ps1 games but only the 60gb 2nd model released will play ps2 games and the only place I have seen them is eBay!

Follow my link. This is the 80gb ps3 "fat" which has 4 usb ports and backwards compatibility.
