    Paypal is a financial transaction broker. Basically what it does is keeps your credit card info. When you wish to make a purchase with their service, the amount is charged to your credit card by paypal then sent to the business you purchased from.

    Since you only had to give your credit card number to paypal, the security risk in online transactions is reduced.

    they act as a middle man trusted by both the buyer and the seller.
