Is using the wii home brew channel legal?
All I want to do is make games to play on the wii. If I do put the home brew channel on the wii, can I legally play my own games? What would I have to do to break the warranty? What is the best way to get the home brew channel onto the wii, and do I have to have that twilight princess game to do it?

It is legal as long as you don't pirate games. You can backup any game that you own, legally. Yes, you can play your homemade games & homemade games from others.

Simply using the home brew chanel is not illegal. It is an unauthorized modification but, not illegal.
Yes, you can play your own games.
Playing copies of games you've not bought (Which Home Brew does not allow you to do) is illegal.
