Where is the best place to shop for top quality brands of home theatre stuff?

I want to turn our tv room into a full home theatre with a projector, a projector screen, and speakers. I want speakers that hang up in the ceiling corners of the walls and I want a big projector screen. What are some good stores that I can buy all of this stuff, And what are some brands to look for?

Thanks in advance!

If you go to Best Buy - find one with a Magnolia store inside. Magnolia was bought by BestBuy a few years ago but they specialize in the better equipment and installs.

You can also look on Bing/Yellow Pages for "Home Theater" and find specialty stores that do the equipment and installs for you. Be sure to ask if they have installers certified by CEDIA - a organization that trains and licences home theater installers (Many home alarm companies will also install your home theater gear for you - poorly) These companies want to sell you the gear they know how to integrate - and it's probably a good idea to let them. There is lots of good gear out there but having someone install things they are used to tends to work better.

You might also want to check out AVS Forums and Home Theater forum as these sites have areas for people who have dedicated a room to home theater. There are .... issues ... you may not know about and inexpensive ways to do things right.

    For example:

    * Do you know how to place the seats in the room to give everyone good sound and avoid problems?

    * Do you know what colors to paint the walls to minimize glare/reflections?

    * Do you know good places to buy long HDMI cables to feed that projector?

    * Do you know to buy seats with low backs to avoid ruining the surround sound effect?

    * Do you know to run telephone and internet cables to your rack because more and more devices want internet connection? (Apple TV, Google TV, Netflix Streaming, etc.)

    * Do you know where to buy movie-poster box's and popcorn machines to accessorize your HT room?

    EQUIPMENT:

DaLite - makers of good projector screens

Harmony Logitech - Makes good universal remotes to control the gear

SVS - Makers of outstanding subwoofers (the secret to an impressive HT experience)

"Sound Studio Construction on a Budget" - good book from Amazon to teach you about room acoustics. Includes 2 designs for home theater rooms.

Atlantic Technology - the "Go To" speaker company that many review magazines use in their screening rooms to review amps and movies. Probably the best speaker company you never heard of.

BlueJeansCables - Great site for extra long AV & HDMI cables that wont break the bank.

    Good Luck.

Well some dogs don't do well on the highest quality food. Or maybe she just wasn't doing well on the top quality food you gave her. And most dogs love to eat lower quality food because often it's sprayed with fat or something else that tastes nice to them. If you're on a budget, the best cheapest high quality food is Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. It's about $1/lb. The next one down is the dog food from Costco (if you have a membership). It's the Kirkland brand food, it's very very decent. Not much fillers and mostly good stuff. It's about $0.50/lb. It's much better than some of the brands out there like Pedigree or Beneful, etc.

Simple go to your local independent hi end audio video store as they carry the better brands of equipment and the salesmen at these store generally have many years experience to help you design the best system for your needs.

The chain stores simply don't have the experience or knowledge to design a good system.

Buying online is also not a good option as your really need to listen to different speakers and equipment to know what sounds good to you, and in your room.

    www.crutchfield.com

Hands down, the most professional and friendly service you will ever receive. They have a print catalog, as well.

Whatever you do, DO NOT go to Best Buy. Their employees generally know nothing about their products, and their store policies will likely screw you in the event that you are unhappy with a purchase, not to mention the way they treat our Veterans, don't even get me started on that one...

You can't go wrong with Crutchfield

Source(s): I have bought many items through them for MANY years, and they have never failed me.
