Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. I want to use my answers I have written at Y!A within a book I want to publish, is there a problem?

Because I read that: "...all resolved questions & answers are the property of Y!A." I would only use my answers, but need to use the questions I have answered and some of the additional details. Of course I want to give references and can give the links to the original question. What else I need to know and to do so that I don't violate any 'guidelines' and conditions?

I am thinking about a publshed printed book and a free download book. My answers from Y!A would be only a small part of my book, I have much more material written outside of Y!A that I will include.

I read for a long time the Yahoo conditions, but could not find any thing. Can some body tell me where to look? I have ask the same question at 'Authors & books' but the only answers I received were telling me that Yahoo could sue me.

Update:

Yahzmin @ Thanks, your answer gives me some release. I can understand that I can't use what other people have written and that I need their permission. But several asker can't be reached as they don't allow email. Would it be a solution, that I phrase the question differently? In any case I will contact the Yahoo administration, but before I want to be more clear, not to bother them more than necessary...

Section 9 of the Terms of Service seem to cover what you are referring to:

"Yahoo! does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the Yahoo! Services. However, with respect to Content you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Yahoo! Services, you grant Yahoo! the following worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license(s), as applicable:"

Notice it says "non-exclusive license(s)", which means that you still retain YOUR rights to the material, you simply give Yahoo rights AS WELL. So they can use your material as they see fit.

The wording of "...all resolved questions & answers are the property of Y!A." simply means that only Yahoo Answers has the ability to remove those postings. Here is what Yahoo itself says about Resolved Questions - it says nothing about it being their property:

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/ratings/r...

Your biggest issue may be the use of the question and showing other answers besides yours. You do not have the right to post things other people have written here. Their posting here constitutes a copyright of their material. You would need to contact anybody here whose question or answer you intend to publish and get them to sign a waiver to allow you use their posting.
