Is downtown Chicago "glamourous?"?

I live in the suburbs, and I go downtown all the time. However, it does not seem at all as "fancy" as Sex and the City's New York or the Kardashian's California. Am I just not going to the right place?

I also live in the suburbs and I firmly believe there is no better city than Chicago! The fact that it's not super glamorous makes it that much more livable. It's a gorgeous city, but not so intimidating as New York or LA. The buildings are beautiful and people are attractive, but it's more the spirit that makes Chicago so great. It's fun and cool, doesn't really need to be "glamorous".

New York is depicted that way. I've been to New York, and it reminds me of Chicago, but Chicago is a bit...softer, per say. It has more of a homely feeling, but that may be just me because I live here. There are many great areas in Chicago where there are nice places, and not just downtown. Lincoln Park is a nice place, and so is Roosevelt street and the University Village. Also, down the Magnificent Mile (which I think is Madison or State or something like that), there is a big shopping district where Macy's is.

    Hey there!.

You watch too much TV. Do you want honest answer ?... Los Angeles is not glamorous, and currently has a gang problem on the westside and around hollywood. Chicago is definitely a lot more glamorous than Los Angeles, especially Downtown. Have you been to Downtown LA ?.. Dead. No shops. I have been to New York City, and it is amazing. But if you mean, which one looks more beautiful nicer ?... I have to say Chicago. It is more modern, and layed out better. The Gold Coast area ?.... it is very similar to rodeo drive. Very expensive, and snobby area with many designer shops. North of Streeterville.

So on TV, it may not be. But in reality ?.... It seems to be more than Hollywood in real life. NYC is obviously the big apple, so no question.

Dude anything looks glamorous on television. I live in Chicago! It isn't that fancy. Nor is New York. I have visited several times and it is just as fancy as Chicago. It is all about perception. What you choose to show. I've only been to LA once but it too didn't impress me. You must be really young because everything seems more impressive when you are a teenager.

If you want to see glamour in Chicago all you have to do is walk into one of its many upscale stores, spas, or hotels. Such as the Peninsula, Gucci, Four Seasons, Palmer House Hilton Spa, Elizabeth Arden Spa,W Lakeshore etc...

There are so many upscale places, but I get what you are saying. Chicago does tend to have a gloomy look to it. Many times I think it is because of the weather and its architectural sights and buldings are great, but many are dark.

If you walk down Walton St., Michigan Ave., Rush St., or areas like Gold Coast, Streeterville, etc... you will see the class that Chicago has.

Lake Shore areas are wonderfully places to see and explore and also view the skyline.

Also LA is not that nice and NY is very large and has many different areas and neighborhoods just like Chicago.

"glamorous" isn't the right word. i feel like Downtown Chicago has a warm down to earth feeling that is exciting at the same time. The shops, the people, the food, everything here rocks.

There are a few streets downtown closer to the John Hancock building that are just full of designer boutiques. Not sure what the street names are, but it blows my mind whenever I pass by. Also, one of my favorite places in the city is Wacker Drive, especially on Wabash near the river. It's really open with tall buildings in the background, and the Church of Christ, Scientist is a really beautiful building.

I person might have had to the two been in a coma for previous 5 years or interior the right's echo chamber to no longer observe that conservatives have tried to paint Obama has some thing foreign places and unAmerican, and his ethnic historical past has been needed to that attempt. it is not basically some thing that Chris Mathews has commented approximately. human beings, like Colin Powell have commented on it besides. that's what Mathews replaced into alluding to in his comments. yet as constantly, fairly of objectively interpreting his comments to attempt and comprehend why he pronounced what he pronounced and if there may be any validity to it, the right brushed off it out of hand and became it into yet yet another Obama / left bashing speaking element. This crap is fairly getting tiring.
