What instrument is this ?
it's got like a black and white keyboard right... and it has 6 strings and 7 pedals, and you play it by knocking on it with a horsehair bow or plucking at the valves with a reed.... help!!!

I don't know but I think I saw it in a Dr. Seuss book.

Its a chordaphone of the percussion family.
(... and yes, I do think I too, saw it in a Dr. Seuss book, which I was reading in the waiting room at the dentist's - never did find out how that one ended.)
Edit Add:
Very important - Can I get it in White or colors other than Black lacquer or natural wood?
Even more than very important: Can I teach myself to play this instrument and play it well?
