Any good sites where I can find info on WW2 vets?

I already have ancestry.com subscription. Looking for service records of a deceased family member.

I assume you are referring to U.S. military veterans. If not, then ignore the information below.

The article at this link will give you some good information and additional links:

    http://genealogy.about.com/od/military_records/Mil...

Enlisted men/women who served in the regular Army throughout our country's history, as well as discharged and deceased veterans of all services during the 20th century, can be researched through military service records. These records are primarily available through the National Archives and the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC).

I'm sure you know about the fire in July 1973 at the U.S. National Personnel Records Center which destroyed one-of-a-kind records of veterans discharged from the US Army between Nov 1912 and Jan 1960 (about 80 percent of those records destroyed) and records of veterans discharged from the US Army Air Corps/US Air Force between Sep 1947 and Jan 1964 (names A through Hubbard, James E - about 75 percent of the records for the total # of discharged individuals.) That information just does not exist.

This is the link to the National Archives home page:

    http://www.archives.gov/

It will be obvious on that page where to go to learn how to find/obtain existing service records.

Added: I forgot to add this link to WWII resources from Cyndi's List:

    Best wishes in your research
