Helping my son do homework...he must show his work....
After a recent election for the US Senate, there ended up being 4 more than twice as many Democrats as Republicans. If there are 100 senators, how many are there of each party?
My answer: 68 democratss 32 republicans
He is thinking : 2x + 4 = 100 which = 48......this is not correct.
I know the answer...how do I get him there????

Let x= Number of republicans
Let 2x+4= Number of Democrats
x+2x+4=100
Solve for x

get your son to go for a g.e.d and skip algebra and all those other subjects,you can still go to college with a g.e.d
