You have to probably have a pretty darn good imagination. Also, read the harry potter books (not copy though) and see from J.K. Rowling's perspective of how magic is played out. You may get some ideas and use some. Just ideas in general; not ideas such as having a school called Hogwarts or having the Ministry of Magic. maybe like a Magical Government or something would be better for your story.
Just some suggestions...hope this helped. :)

One of the most important things in your book would be how the Wizard society works and how magic works. Try not to be un-original.

Learn which words to capitalize in a sentence, for starters.
